The cross section in GVERSE Geomodeling is by default hung structurally using the sea level as the datum. However, the interpreter can use the Stratigraphic Datum option, which is functional when surfaces are shown on the cross section, and one is selected as the datum. Select the surface in the cross section and by using the hot keys (space bar for stratigraphic and Ctrl+ space bar for structural) the cross section will change from structural to stratigraphic.
How to change a formation from structural to stratigraphic in a Cross Section:
- Open GVERSE Geomodeling and activate the interpretation > Create or Select a Cross Section > open the Cross Section.
- In the Cross Section select the formation top to be used as Stratigraphic Datum and press the space bar on the keyboard to switch the datum from structural to stratigraphic.
- To switch back to structural press Crtl + space bar keys on the keyboard.
- In addition, the stratigraphic datum can be activated by selecting the formation top on the cross section by going to View tab and selecting Stratigraphic.
- If seismic data is displayed as backdrop on the cross section, it will change from structural to stratigraphic as well.
