Horizons are seismic events picked on the seismic, which can represent a change in rock properties between two layers of rocks. In GVERSE Geophysics you can display the horizons across the picked area and add contours, helping to see anomalies and other changes across the picked area. The density of the contours, pallet color, etc. can be modified in GVERSE Geophysics increasing the details on the interpretation. In addition, it is possible to create a horizon layer and display this layer in GeoAtlas or in GVERSE Geomodeling for mapping or geological interpretation.
Here’s how you can display and modify contours in a horizon:
- Open or create a seismic interpretation in GVERSE Geophysics.
- Wait for the seismic interpretation to display on the Seismic 3D view.
- Pick or display a horizon on the interpretation; go to the Horizons tab and click Create New Horizon. Add a name, symbol, usage (time mapping or depth conversion), event detection, formation and guide window. Click Create and pick the horizon.
- Go to Horizons, click 3D Auto Pick and select Interpolate, Correlate, or Fill Gaps.
- After picking or turning on the horizon, go to the Scene (3D View) tab and expand the Horizons list. Check that the Horizon is Active (Green Light) and click on the drop list and select Solid, Time, Velocity* or Depth*, etc. (If you have an active velocity model, you can convert the horizon to velocity or depth). The horizon will display on the 3D view.
- Right click on top of the horizon and select Display Settings. Expand the Layers Drop list, and check mark Display Contours.
- To modify the contours, click on In the configuration window Contour Intervals, Major & Minor Contours, Annotations and Smoothing setting can be adjusted. Click Apply to preview, and OK to finalize the changes. All the changes will be displayed on the horizon.
- To display a layer created in GeoAtlas on top / drape layer of the Horizon select Drape Layer and click Select Layers. The Layer Selection window will open. Select the layer(s) to be displayed and click The drape layer will appear on the interpretation.
- To create a layer right click on top of the horizon and select Create Layer. The IsoMap Build Surface window will open. Add a name, Select Contours, Color Fill, etc. and click Finish.
- Open GeoAtlas and select the Horizon Layer.
