GeoAtlas is a very powerful mapping tool not only in 2D, but also in 3D. With the Pro 3D tool in GeoAtlas, you can mimic map display in 2D view (Map View) with just a few clicks. In addition, if the project has seismic data on it (3D or 2D), this information can be displayed in GeoAtlas 3D Pro view and used as an extra for field and wells planning.
Here’s how you can display seismic in GeoAtlas – Pro 3D View:
- Activate a GeoGraphix project.
- Open GeoAtlas and activate or create a new map.
- If you select Open an Existing Map the map with all the layers will display in GeoAtlas.
- If you select a Create a New Map, an empty map will open. Add the layers that you want to use and save the map with a unique name.
- Open GVERSE Geophysics and open or create a seismic interpretation. Check that the seismic displays correctly and is inside the Project limits or AOI. Save the seismic interpretation with a unique name.
- In GeoAtlas in the Active layer drop box select any WellBase layer.
- Click on the Create 3D Region The cursor will change to a cross.
- Drag a box on the region that you want to display on the 3D View. A black box will display around the region.
- After selecting the region, the 3D Region Name window will appear. Add a name and click OK.
- A blue box will appear after you have created the 3D region.
- To open the region on the 3D View click on the Cube Icon (Display in 3D). The 3D view will open in a few seconds.
- To display seismic data on the 3D View click on Import Seismic Data in the toolbar. The Seismic Data Importer window will appear. Select the Inline, Xline or arbitrary line to be displayed. If there is more than one 3D seismic volume or more interpretations, you can select them in this window.
- The Seismic will automatically appear on the 3D View. By clicking on the Pallet box you can change the color pallet.
- To display seismic just around one well, select the well with your cursor (this one will turn green), right click and select Display Seismic.
- The seismic will display around the well. In the visual properties you can change the gain, opacity, display wiggles, etc.
