On April the 29th this year’s Rocky Mountain Association of Geologists (RMAG) Geosteering Forum is being held at the Marriot Denver City Centre, Downtown Denver. This year’s theme ‘impacting the bottom line’ is expected to gather hundreds of members at the event and presentations will highlight the latest techniques, applications and software being used to geosteer horizontal wells.
I will be presenting “Unconventional Resource Evaluation and Exploitation – A Practical Approach.” My session will provide you with an overview of the drivers for a successful unconventional resource play followed by a demonstration of a practical application of these drivers in a comprehensive workflow using GeoGraphix.
I will cover the following topics in my session:
- Characterization of the resource using advanced petrophysical modeling techniques
- Identification and modeling of the target in 3D through both well and geophysical data
- Generation and examination of curvature and semblance geophysical attributes for the determination of their applicability to predicting fractures and faulting
- Design of a well plan along target points defined on the 3D target surface followed by correlating and geosteering the horizontal well within the 3D geomodel
- Production reserve categories will be visualized in the mapping environment to determine their special distribution
I look forward to meeting you all at the event; or alternatively, you can schedule a meeting by commenting on the blog below or by emailing me at FPoland@LMKR.COM
